Past two weeks

For the past two weeks I have been trying to get my leg better from that crash I had at Mini O's. Everyday I stay after school and go to my school trainer. There I do stretches, ice, and work outs. This means I haven't been to wrestling practice in about three weeks.

This week is finals week at my school. I think most of them should be pretty easy for me. :)

I'm still trying to upload my helmet cam for the Mini O's. I hope my leg gets better soon!

Mini o's: Day 6

Today was the last day of the mini o's. This week went by pretty fast! Today I had one race. Open c stock. I got the 31st gate pick. Not that good, but it was fine. In the start I got pushed wide. I think this seek I got only 2 good starts. Anyway, I was like second to last right there. Not so good! But then I started charging and got by some people every lap. By the end of the first lap I was in 22nd (out of 36). I kept going good and got by two people every lap. So I ended up 15th in that race. I think I rode good in that moto! I even got a helmet cam of it. That should be up in the next couple of days. All in all it was a pretty good week. I got to see some people who I me earlier this year as well. :) -Greg

Mini o's: Day 5

Yesterday didn't go so well for me. My foot hurt quite a bit in the beginning of the day and then I rode horribly in my 250 c stock race. I think I got 27th or something like that. Today I rode a lot better. After a tip over in my open c stock race, I still got 16th place and qualified for the second moto. In my 250 c modified moto I got a good start but then got passed by a bunch of people. The track was so rough and rutted! I got 11th place in that race. Then I had the 250 c stock consi. I did ok. But I still didn't make the main. Then my dad and I thought the day was done for me. We washed everything and were packing up stuff. Then we found out all of the consi races were running today! So I got all geared up in about a minute! That was the fastest I've ever gotten geared! Anyway, I had the first gate pick for the 250 c modified consi so I got to cut everyone who was already there earlier. Even though I had the first gate pick, I still got a bad start. I was near the back. Then I couldn't pass this girl named Erica Roland for almost two laps. She was riding awesome! good job Erica! She was at millsaps training facility at the same time i was a couple months ago. Anyway, I got by her and someone else in the last turn. I didn't get into the main in that class either. So tomorrow I have one main (open c stock). Wish me luck! -Greg

Mini o's: Day 3

Today was the last day of supercross racing, and I didn't do very well at all. In my 250 c stock main I stalled my bike in the start. Then I was coming back through the field, charging. Then in one section someone was down over the first double in this one section. So, everyone going over the jump had to roll it. But I was in a race! So right after I rolled that double I went for the next one. I didn't make it. I don't think the mud helped either. So when I eventually got my bike up, someone flying over the jump just slammed into my bike. I ended up not being able to get my bike started. Because I cased that jump badly, I hurt my lower leg. So when I "raced" in the open c stock class, I wasn't even worried about racing. I was just thinking about my leg. So I rode so horribly that my dad was mad at me for a couple hours. Hopefully tomorrow goes better. It's outdoors! I just hope my leg won't hurt. Wish me luck! -Greg

Open C Stock qualifier division 1

I wheelies off the start again, which wasn't very good. But I got through the first turn fine and started pushing. I rode a lot better so far today. I got 11th place unofficially in that race. My lap times improved by 5 seconds. That's why I'm happy. :D my fastest lap ended up being a 1:00.428. -Greg

Mini o's: day 1

Today was the first day of riding here at the mini o's. It was supercross. I had two practices and I tried making use of them. The track is pretty good. It got some pretty big ruts. :P Anyway, I had one qualifier race today: 250 C stock. I wheelied off the start and ended up about midpack in the first turn. I ended up 12th in that race. Not as good as I would have hoped for, but it got me into the main. I just have to get loosened up and more comfortable tomorrow. That will make me more aggressive. Well tomorrow is my Open C stock qualifier! Wish me luck. -Greg

Driving south!

My dad and I are driving to Florida for the mini o's now! Finally! :D I don't know how I'll do, but I'll be making updates here everyday. My teammate Shane cobb was down in Georgia getting ready for the mini o's this week. Things didn't go that well for him... He cased a jump and broke his leg. I wish him a speedy recovery! I'm going to meet him on the road soon as he and his dad are driving back up to Illinois. My dad and I are really tired from the week... We worked on our van everyday and we have to be at the track tomorrow afternoon. But at least our van is almost done! It's looking good now on the inside. Just a little messy. Well, it should be a good week. :D -Greg

Improving

Today I went to Dan and Shane's house again. Dan changed one section up by adding a jump and modifying another one.I witnessed Shane loop out over one of the jumps and bail in mid-air. It was pretty crazy! He was ok from it, thankfully. Last time I was there my best lap time was around 2 minutes 37 seconds. Today at the end of the day I did 2 minutes 33 seconds! That's four whole seconds! If at the Mini O's I ride like I did today, I think I'm going to do really good! :D Now the wrestling season is going to start tomorrow. Should be intense! -Greg

Getting ready

Recently I've been going riding to get ready for the mini o's! Yep, I'm (probably) going! So I went to dan and shane's house again. I decided to try riding a 125 again and it's fun! Today my dad did lap time comparisons and I was about two seconds faster on my 250. For fun I also tried Shane's 104. It was really small compared to what I'm used to! But the couple laps I did with it were pretty fun. Yesterday the track was a little slick and muddy, but today it was superb! This weekend I might also go riding to mount Carrol. Should be awesome! -Greg

Lukas's house

Over the past week and a half I have gone riding a few more times. Yesterday I went to Lukas Cobian's house to ride. After days of raining, the track was pretty much fine! It was all nice and tilled thanks to Lukas and Cody. :) Shane was out with us too. I rode without my RXR for the first time in a couple years. I felt so vulnerable at first, but later on I felt normal. No doubt about it, I'm going to wear it again the next time I ride! Here are some pictures...

My dad and I have also gotten more work done on our van. It's coming out good! I'll be riding again on Wednesday. Should be fun! :)

Brrr

On Wednesday I went riding to Dan's house again. And the track was changed once more! At first I kept messing up on where everything goes, but by the end it was good. I rode for about 40 minutes because of the sun setting earlier. Before we got there that day, Shane Cobb's almost brand new bike with just 3.6 or 3.7 hours on it seized. Not good...

I was supposed to go racing to Sunset Ridge on Sunday, but it ended up getting canceled from all the rain we got last week. Instead of going racing or riding, my Dad and I continued our work on our Dodge Sprinter. We're finally getting the bed and walls in! But there's a lot of work left. This colder and colder temperature isn't helping us very well.

This weekend I also went to one of my sister's (Elis) soccer game! It was cold, but hot chocolate helped make it all better. :D Anyway, the game ended up tied 0-0. Elis almost scored a couple times. But it didn't happen. Also, she was goalie the second half of her game, and nobody scored on her! So it was pretty cool. The next morning she got up really early to go to two early morning games, which they tied 0-0 again.

Competition

Yesterday I went riding to Shane and Dan's house again. I got to see Shane Cobb's and James Hermes' new bikes. They look pretty sweet in my opinion! Anyway, my sister came out with us yesterday, too. She was having some fun with her XR100. Hitting the jumps doesn't really work out for her... haha. Yesterday I decided to try and get a video with James and Shane on it almost the whole time. I think it worked out well. Check it out!

Some new videos!

Today I posted some new helmet cam videos of me riding up on Youtube. It's so long that I had to divide it into three videos! Here's the first one.

To see the other two and other videos I have made, just go to http://www.youtube.com/motokid43 At that link there are also helmet cams of my races at Sunset Ridge and the Club 57 Challenge.

I think some of them are pretty interesting to watch!

First Blog!

This is the first blog I've ever done! This should be a good thing for me to keep doing. :)

Anyways, today was the Motocross des Nations. My dad and I got up at 6 to watch it all! But I have to admit, I was pretty much asleep during the whole first race. After 3 hours of staring at two computer screens, I was not expecting USA to take the trophy. But they did it somehow! That last crazy race really helped them out. Also, Estonia ended up in eighth place overall. That's better than last years tenth place!

Right after watching all that action, I went riding to my friend Dan's house. Today there was quite a few people there. I'm so glad! Otherwise the track wouldn't have dried out as well from all the rain we got this week! The track was slick at first, but by the middle of our riding it was perfect. It's so much fun doing whips over the step-up floater jump! One lap I tried doing a one footer with a whip off of it and flat landed so badly! But it's a small price to pay for all that fun. :) I also tried carrying more momentum through the turns today. I don't know if it worked, but it sure seemed like it. Hopefully my helmet cam will show me. I'm hoping to get that on the internet tomorrow.

Before my dad and I left for home, we loaded a fricken awesome 1929 car onto a trailer. So cool!
