This is day 4 of our grueling expedition. There is plenty of food... And the weather is great. Today was our day off, so we watched "shutter island" in the morning and "the road" at night. Shutter island was actually good! I didn't think it would be good, but it was actually pretty interesting. The road was kind of boring. It reminded me a lot of "I am legend." I think that's what most of our "tough" day consisted of. For lunch we went to a Mexican restaurant with some nice people who live right next to mtf. Deborah and Jake. I shared some quesadillas with Shane and listened to two jokes from Jake. After that we all went to dan and shane's new house so they could check it out. We played some basketball and had fun dunking on the lowered net. It was the first time in a year I had seen them.
Later on dan, Shane, and I went to dairy queen and ate some good ice cream. When we got back to the house dan and Shane fell asleep somehow. It was funny. They just plopped down after we watched a little Mx movie. I didn't really want to sleep, so I put on some DMXS RADIO and shot some hoops for an hour and a half. That was cool listening to the show.
Tomorrow is gonna be the actual first day of the Built Lusk Tough school, so I'm gonna get some rest for that now. Tomorrow I should have some good stories from it! -Greg

Built Lusk Tough: Day 3
Hello! This is my 43rd post on this blog. I don't know about you guys, but I think that should be a holiday! July 3rd. Hopefully I'll remember next year. Anyways, today turned out to be a pretty good day. We woke up at 9. Actually, I had my alarm for 8, but everyone woke up right away from it and said "turn it off!" So we ended up sleeping for another hour. I was surprised. I thought it was supposed to be a riding day! But I was ok with it because we actually ate breakfast. Cereal! A little later we left for the track. We ended up being a little side tracked by a store. We needed some things to make the washer and dryer work.
We ended up getting to the track at 10:40. At that time, we were ready to shred. I rode 4 times all together and put an hour of riding time in. I did a 15 lap moto on a supercrossi sand track once too. I wanted to do one earlier, but my rear brake stopped working about 6 laps in. So I just cruised a few more laps. But I did get a good one in later. I just used less rear brake. In the last half laps another guy started riding with me. He caught me and passed me, but it was fun! Today I tried riding with my index fingers instead of middle fingers, too. I just felt like I should, and there I was, using index fingers. I don't know why I wanted to try it. It just seems better. After that we watched some red bud on tv and just chilled.
That was pretty much our day. After all that, we went to a guys house to do something really quick with shane's shock. There was a guy who just wouldn't stop talking there! It was nuts! He seemed nice, but I was glad when we left. Up to this point, I thought I had a pretty healthy day food wise. So I knew we had to do something about that. Pizza hut it was for dinner! It took a long time for our food to get done, but it was really good when we got it. I'm not gonna put it over Zaxby's, but I have to admit it was close!
Well that's enough for today. We're all pretty tired. Happy 43rd post everybody! :D

Built Lusk Tough: Day 2
Hey y'all! Today I got to practice my southern accent quite a bit. That's obviously because we made it to Georgia! We got here really late, like at midnight or 1 last night. I was pretty much passed out before that, though. (so I'm told). It was not comfortable to sleep in the fun mover because of how humid it was in there. The funny part is that we slept in front of dan and shane's new house! But it wasn't furnished or anything yet. Oh well.
When we woke up, we knew we had a lot to do. We had to carry in all the mattresses, a couch, and a tv. That was just the beginning of the day. I must admit, their new house is pretty nice. We are worried about rattlesnakes in the woods though! After we got some of the stuff out of the funmover, we had a problem. The battery wasn't working very well, so the electric things in it barely worked at all. So we waited there for a little bit until the battery charged back up a little.
As soon as that was ready, we started cruising to southern raceway to get some things set up there. Now I thought we just wanted to hook up the power to the fun mover there and some other shenanigans. But I never thought that we would go there to set up a kiddie pool. Yeah, that's exactly what we did. It was pretty weird. I mean why would we want a kiddie pool set up at that particular time? Anyway, we did that so it wouldn't get blown away...
After being there for an hour or so, we realized we hadn't eaten anything all day. And it was already 2 pm! I was really happy when we finally got to a place called Zaxby's. I ordered some kind of chicken sandwhich with fries. I also got a really good birthday milk shake. I felt like I was in heaven eating that! Oh man, it was great. But it didn't last forever, sadly.
In a pick up truck we left to our next destination: home depot to pick up some appliances. Like I mentioned, the cobb's new house was completely unfurnished. So we needed a refrigerator, washer, dryer, and microwave. That ended up being quite a challenge. We were looking at them at the home depot. But it turns out they don't keep any in stock. That was just wonderful. So we took a visit to our good friend, Sears.
The store was way smaller, but we were actually able to get stuff from right there! It ended up being quite a lot of money. We went out back to get everything loaded up into the truck, then. The refrigerator, washer, and dryer ended up going in perfectly, but then we had to wait for microwave for a while. It turns out the guy dropped it... Dang. So we were one appliance down. He said we could pick it up Tuesday. We then went right back to the house to unpack our new goodies. That took a little while too. It was already 6 by now, and we still hadn't bought any groceries for the new refrigerator. Sweet.
We ended up spending $300 at walmart. Yeah, I was surprised too! We also picked up a movie to watch. When we got back home for the third time, I was ready to eat my second meal of the day at 9 pm. Surprisingly, dan and Shane barely ate anything. I, myself, gave my arteries a cleansing with a beautifully made wrap. Then I topped it off with chocolate milk. Oh yeah, I also had some sandwiches with a chocolate spread on them. That's the way to do it.
Now we're all laying down on mattresses in dan's room because it's way too hot upstairs. They're sleeping and I'm about ready to do the same. Thanks for reading my blog everyone! I wanna make them all good like the one before this. Well, I tried. Check back tomorrow! -Greg

Built Lusk Tough: Day 1
Hey guys! Or should I say hey y'all? The second one sounds more appropriate for my location. That's because I'm going down south to Georgia for a week to do a motocross school by the Lusk family. Pretty sweet, huh? My friends dan and Shane cobb offered to take me down and everything. My dad couldn't come with, though, because he has work. I think I can handle most of the bike work and stuff.
This morning we began driving at 5 am from the Cobb house. That was our goal and we actually started two minutes early! We stopped around 3 times so far. The first time was for them to check out a new fun mover. It was pretty cool. The other times were for food. I can feel my arteries clogging right now! Every meal was fast food. From the times it took to get the food, I can tell which states are fast and which states are slow. Indiana's flying fast! I ordered some food from Mcdonalds, and the food was in my hands about two seconds after I stepped away from the cash register! Alabama's about as slow as a turtle. I ordered something with Shane at a Wendy's and it took at least 10 minutes to get everything. I was surprised. Oh well.
Currently we are still driving. We might make it to our destination around midnight, or we'll stop a little earlier. I don't really care. All I know is that it is freaking hot and humid in the middle of the fun mover! I don't know how I'm gonna sleep, but it'll be fine. So day 1 was nothing eventful, but it has to be done. Check back later for more updates! -Greg
P.S. We've been driving for about 18 hours now. Oh yeah.

Minnesota
Hey everybody! This weekend I went to Minnesota to do a race at Spring Creek Mx Park. The last time I was there it was super rough. So I was kind of surprised when I rode there this weekend. It was still rough, but not that bad. I was hoping that it wouldn't rain there, but it ended up raining both nights before the riding days. That made it pretty muddy! But it dried up pretty well both times. Sunday morning, before the races, I thought it was actually pretty fun to ride in that mud! That was before I got myself all dirty from crashing, though. :P
All my races went pretty similarly. I was top 3 in the first turn in every start. So my starts were pretty good. :D But then I would get passed or I would fall. In the first race I fell on the first lap out of 1st place. When I got up I was in 10th. By the end of the race I almost caught up to 3rd place, but then fell again. So I got 5th. The next race I got passed early on quite a bit and finished in 6th. In my third race I finished 5th again. Nothing good. My last race was going pretty good for 3 laps. I was in 6th right behind a guy, but then I fell in a turn when I accidently went into a deep spot in a berm. I got up and finished 12th. :( So I got 4th overall in Open B and 9th overall in 250 B.
Now I'm back home and not really doing anything. But I do have something coming up. In a couple days I'm going to go to Georgia for a week or two to ride. I have a feeling it'll be really hot! But it should be cool.
I'll write about that later on when I'm there! Bye! -Greg

Baja Video
Baja Regional from lukas cobian on Vimeo.
Here's a sweet video made by Lukas Cobian. It has footage of some local guys racing the Baja Regional. Enjoy!
As for my adventures, this weekend I went riding at a track called Mount Carroll. The track was sweet and fun. I did a 30 minute moto once and did a couple laps at a time the rest of the time. I had two pretty funny crashes, too. :P
Happy late Father's Day to all the dads out there! We didn't do that many things for Father's Day. But that's ok. I got to see Toy Story 3, so that made everything good. :D If you get a chance, you definitely need to see that movie! It's great!
Also, I have been helping my dad paint a shop for Tom Zont Racing. That's been pretty fun, surprisingly.
That's all that has been going on with me lately. See ya! -Greg

Baja Regional
I'm just sitting in my room right now wondering about my weekend... If any of you follow the amateur circuit in the US, then you know Loretta Lynn's is one of the most prestigious races to do. Just qualifying for it is hard. Heck, even qualifying to the regional is difficult! Well I tried to get to Loretta Lynn's this past weekend and this is what happened...
We left late Thursday night after preparing and packing everything up for the weekend. It usually isn't a good idea to start a 6 hour drive at 10:30 at night, but my dad and I decided to do it anyway. My dad seemed like he was going to fall asleep at any moment and was doing really weird things to stay awake. We wanted to get to a rest area to sleep, but none seemed to come up anywhere! That was pretty scary. Once we did get to a rest area, we didn't even sleep. My dad decided to keep sleeping! But it was all ok in the morning when we arrived at the track.
Friday was just a day of practice, but a lot of it! I signed up for two classes so I got in 6 practice sessions. I found out two things that day: the track was going to be really rough that weekend and I was going to have a hard time. Great!
The next day, Saturday, was the day that racing started. My three classes were all split into two divisions. That meant that I had to get top 16 in each of those to qualify for the 2nd and 3rd motos. I got 15th in the first 450 B Mod moto, so I made it to the next ones. But I didn't get top 16 in my 250 B Stock and Mod classes. Uh oh! But it ended up going fine. My 250 B Mod last chance qualifier actually went really well. I got the holeshot and led for 2 out of 3 laps! I ended up getting passed and battling, which resulted in me getting 2nd. But that was still awesome!
My second last chance qualifier was 250 B Stock. I kind of wheelied off the start, so I didn't get the holeshot, but I was still up there. I think I got 3rd in that race. I forgot to mention, both lcq's only had 8 and 7 racers in them, so everyone qualified! A lot of us didn't really see a reason to race that, but we did anyway.
That night we went to a hotel that some of our friends were staying at to pay a visit to the pool and hot tub. That was good for sure. My dad and I just slept in our van in the parking lot. :P
The next morning our van had a dead battery, but we still got it started thanks to good old jumper cables! Whew! And then we were off for our last day at the Baja Acres Mid-East Regional. That was the coldest of the days we were there. I think it was in the mid-70's. It was cloudy all day, but we were pretty sure it wasn't going to rain. There was a chance of rain for all weekend. But barely any came!
That day, Sunday, my motos all went pretty similarly. I would have to start near the outside in every race, and then I would have to battle near the back of the pack. In one of my 250 classes I actually got taken out and ran over on the last lap. I'm pretty sure both of those things were accidents... at least the running me over part was!
The challenging track gave me a 22nd overall in 450 B Mod, 22nd overall in 250 B Mod, and 25th overall in 250 B Stock. Not that bad considering each class had as many as 60 guys in it in the beginning!
So I didn't qualify for Loretta Lynn's, but I think I got some good experience racing with all those super fast guys. That's why Loretta Lynn's is so big...
I guess there's always next year! :D
